A Word from Our Youth Leader
Have you ever heard the phrase “A
computer is only as good as the information put into it”?
We’ve
all seen it happen, you’re surfing the internet, downloading music, chatting in
chat rooms, previewing movies and there they are PoP-UPS! Advertising various
embarrassing products and making promises of happiness – often with information
you’d rather your parents didn’t catch you looking at. The next thing you know
your connection begins to slow, there are new icons on your desktop you don’t
remember putting there, the pop-ups are unstoppable and now your wonderful
computer has a virus. The only solution is to send your computer to the shop
and have it wiped clean.
I
think people are like computers in this respect. Our output is only as good as
our input! We don’t give too much thought to the lyrics of the music we’re
listening too, or the R – rated movies and video games depicting immoral sex
and violence. We don’t think it can hurt us to spend time with friends who like
to party and just “let everything go”. Life’s too short and as long as we’re
not the ones doing it what’s the problem?
The
problem is out output is only as good as
our input! The more waste we take in, the farther we stray from God’s will.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
Allow
God to clean out your hearts and minds like we so often have to clean out our
computers. Live above the worldly desires and surround yourselves with friends,
activities, movies, music and video games that reflect God’s principles and your
output will always be good!
